Australasian Study of Parliament Group

Australasian Study of Parliament Group (ASPG):-  The Victorian Chapter of the ASPG encourages former Members to participate in the Chapter’s activities.

The chapter’s objectives include: running seminars that combine the practical and academic aspects of parliament (usually 4 seminars per year and always held at Parliament House); informing and educating the public about parliament; and contributing to the process of reform and improvement of parliamentary institutions and the legislative process.  The ASPG also has an important purpose of promoting high level research and writing, and at the national level the ASPG publishes the Australian Parliamentary Review journal.

Former members have much to contribute after they have finished their representative role, particularly as they are free to speak more frankly about parliamentary and political matters and with the wisdom of hindsight!

Our next seminar, subject to confirmation, is on electoral management and rules, planned for Wednesday, 1 November, at 5pm at Parliament House.

If you would like to know more about membership and options to participate in the Executive, please email aspg@parliament.vic.gov.au.

Andrew Young, President of Victorian Chapter, ASPG.
