New Year Update from the President, Peter Loney
A new year is upon us and we have a number of changes to our Committee. Candy Broad and David Koch have retired after having made valuable contributions over many years. Coming on to our committee are Kaye Darveniza and Gordon Rich-Phillips. We look forward to their involvement and the new ideas they will bring.
I outlined at the 2022 AGM that our priorities are support and wellbeing of our members, representation and social activities. These priorities will continue to guide us through the year. We will be seeking to meet with the Parliament’s new Presiding Officers and Clerks at the earliest opportunity to continue the good relationship that has been built. Our Support and Wellbeing committee will be contacting those who departed Parliament at the 2022 elections and providing advice to the committee on necessary supports. We will be giving consideration to the implementation of recommendations from the “Transitioning To Life after Parliament“ report, and there will be opportunities for us to get together socially.
Your committee is planning to have a full schedule of VPFMA activities after a few years of restricted activity. This will include functions, visits, and activities and, for the first time, we are planning a visit outside of Melbourne. Some indicative dates are included in this newsletter and details will be provided closer to the events. I hope that you will be able to join in them.
We are looking forward to an active year and we hope to see you at our functions and events.
